दधाना हस्तपद्माभ्यां कुष्मांडा शुभदास्तु मे।
कुष्मांडा माता दुर्गा का चौथा रूप है। जब पृथ्वी पर कुछ नहीं था और हर जगह अंधकार ही अंधकार था तब माता कुष्मांडा ने सृष्टि को जन्म दिया। उस समय माता सूर्य लोक में रहती थी। ऊर्जा का सृजन भी उन्ही ने सृष्टि में किया।
माता कुष्मांडा के आठ हाँथ होते हैं इसलिए उन्हें अष्टभुजा देवी के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। उनका वाहन सिंह है और माता के हांथों मैं कमंडल, चक्र, कमल का फूल,
अमृत मटका, और जप माला होते हैं।
माता कुष्मांडा शुद्धता की देवी हैं,
उनकी पूजा करने से सभी रोग और दुख-कष्ट दूर होते हैं।
नवरात्रि में चौथे दिन देवी को कुष्मांडा के रूप में पूजा जाता है। अपनी मंद, हल्की हंसी के द्वारा ब्रह्मांड को उत्पन्न करने के कारण इस देवी को कुष्मांडा नाम से अभिहित किया गया है। जब सृष्टि नहीं थी,
चारों तरफ अंधकार ही अंधकार था, तब इसी देवी ने अपने ईषत् हास्य से ब्रह्मांड की रचना की थी। इसीलिए इसे सृष्टि की आदिस्वरूपा या आदिशक्ति कहा गया है।
इस देवी की आठ भुजाएं हैं,
इसलिए अष्टभुजा कहलाईं। इनके सात हाथों में क्रमशः कमण्डल, धनुष, बाण,
कमल-पुष्प, अमृतपूर्ण कलश,
चक्र तथा गदा हैं। आठवें हाथ में सभी सिद्धियों और निधियों को देने वाली जप माला है।
इस देवी का वाहन सिंह है और इन्हें कुम्हड़े की बलि प्रिय है। संस्कृति में कुम्हड़े को कुष्मांड कहते हैं इसलिए इस देवी को कुष्मांडा। इस देवी का वास सूर्यमंडल के भीतर लोक में है। सूर्यलोक में रहने की शक्ति क्षमता केवल इन्हीं में है। इसीलिए इनके शरीर की कांति और प्रभा सूर्य की भांति ही दैदीप्यमान है। इनके ही तेज से दसों दिशाएं आलोकित हैं। ब्रह्मांड की सभी वस्तुओं और प्राणियों में इन्हीं का तेज व्याप्त है।
अचंचल और पवित्र मन से नवरात्रि के चौथे दिन इस देवी की पूजा-आराधना करना चाहिए। इससे भक्तों के रोगों और शोकों का नाश होता है तथा उसे आयु, यश,
बल और आरोग्य प्राप्त होता है। ये देवी अत्यल्प सेवा और भक्ति से ही प्रसन्न होकर आशीर्वाद देती हैं। सच्चे मन से पूजा करने वाले को सुगमता से परम पद प्राप्त होता है।
विधि-विधान से पूजा करने पर भक्त को कम समय में ही कृपा का सूक्ष्म भाव अनुभव होने लगता है। ये देवी आधियों-व्याधियों से मुक्त करती हैं और उसे सुख-समृद्धि और उन्नति प्रदान करती हैं। अंततः इस देवी की उपासना में भक्तों को सदैव तत्पर रहना चाहिए।

Kushmanda
is the fourth form of Mata Durga. When there was nothing on the earth and
darkness was everywhere, Maa Kushmanda gave birth to the creation. Mata used to
live in Surya Lok at that time. She also created energy in the universe.
Mata
Kushmanda has eight arms, hence she is also known as Ashtabhuja Devi. Their
vehicle is a lion and in the hands of the Maa, there are kamandals, chakras,
lotus flowers, Amrit Matka, and chanting garlands.
Maa
Kushmanda is the goddess of purity, worshiping her removes all diseases and
sorrows.
The
goddess is worshiped as Kushmanda on the fourth day in Navratri. Ther goddess
has been named as Kushmanda because of her creation of the universe through her
dim, mild laughter. When there was no creation, there was darkness all around,
then the goddess created the universe with her enchanting humor. That is why it
has been called Adi Swaroopa or Adishakti of the universe.
Ther
goddess has eight arms, hence called Ashtabhuja. In her seven hands,
respectively, there are kamandal, bow, arrow, lotus-flower, nectar-shaped urn,
chakra and mace. In the eighth hand is a chanting rosary giving all siddhi and
funds.
The
vehicle of the goddess is Leo and he is loved by the lion. In the culture, the
potter is called Kushmand, hence the goddess Kushmanda. Ther goddess resides in
the world within the solar system. Only he has the power to live in the sun.
That is why the radiance and brilliance of her body is just as bright as that
of the Sun. Ten directions are highlighted by her sharpness. They have a strong
influence on all the objects and beings of the universe.
Worshiping
the Goddess on the fourth day of Navratri should be worshiped with a calm and
pious mind. By then, devotees destroy diseases and sufferings and get age,
fame, strength, and health. These Goddesses give delight and blessings only with
minimal service and devotion. The one who worships with the right mind attains
the ultimate rank with ease.
The
devotee starts experiencing a subtle sense of grace in a short time by
worshiping with the law. These Goddesses liberate him from the diseases and
give him happiness, prosperity, and progress. Finally, devotees should always be
ready in worship of their Goddess.
