माँ कात्यायनी, दुर्गा माता के छठवां रूप हैं। महर्षि कात्यायना एक महान ज्ञानी थे जो अपने आश्रम में कठोर तपस्या कर रहे थे ताकि महिषासुर का अंत हो सके। एक दिन भगवान ब्रह्मा,विष्णु, और महेश्वर एक साथ उनके समक्ष प्रकट हुए। तीनो त्रिमूर्ति ने मिलकर अपनी शक्ति से माता दुर्गा को प्रकट किया। यह आश्विन महीने के
14वें दिन पूर्ण रात्रि के समय हुआ।
महर्षि कात्यायना वह पहले व्यक्ति थे जिन्होंने माता दुर्गा की पूजा की थी इसलिए माता दुर्गा का नाम माँ कात्यायनी कहा जाता है और आश्विन माह के पूर्ण उज्वल रात्रि सातवें, आठवें और नौवे दिन नवरात्री का त्यौहार मनाया जाता है। दसवें दिन को महिषासुर का अंत मनाया जाता है।
माता कात्यायनी को शुद्धता की देवी माना जाता है। माता कात्यायनी के चार हाथ हैं, उनके उपरी दाहिने हाथ में वह मुद्रा प्रदर्शित करती हैं जो डर से मुक्ति देता है, और उनके नीचले दाहिने हाथ में वह आशीर्वाद मुद्रा, उपरी बाएं हाथ में वह तलवार और नीचले बाएं में कमल का फूल रखती है। उनकी पूजा आराधना करने से धन-धन्य और मुक्ति मिलती है।
नवरात्रि में छठे दिन मां कात्यायनी की पूजा की जाती है। इनकी उपासना और आराधना से भक्तों को बड़ी आसानी से अर्थ, धर्म, काम और मोक्ष चारों फलों की प्राप्ति होती है। उसके रोग,
शोक,
संताप और भय नष्ट हो जाते हैं। जन्मों के समस्त पाप भी नष्ट हो जाते हैं।
इस देवी को नवरात्रि में छठे दिन पूजा जाता है। कात्य गोत्र में विश्वप्रसिद्ध महर्षि कात्यायन ने भगवती माता की उपासना की। कठिन तपस्या की। उनकी इच्छा थी कि उन्हें पुत्री प्राप्त हो। मां भगवती ने उनके घर पुत्री के रूप में जन्म लिया।
इसलिए यह देवी कात्यायनी कहलाईं। इनका गुण शोधकार्य है। इसीलिए इस वैज्ञानिक युग में कात्यायनी का महत्व सर्वाधिक हो जाता है। इनकी कृपा से ही सारे कार्य पूरे जो जाते हैं। ये वैद्यनाथ नामक स्थान पर प्रकट होकर पूजी गईं। मां कात्यायनी अमोघ फलदायिनी हैं।
भगवान कृष्ण को पति रूप में पाने के लिए ब्रज की गोपियों ने इन्हीं की पूजा की थी। यह पूजा कालिंदी यमुना के तट पर की गई थी। इसीलिए ये ब्रजमंडल की अधिष्ठात्री देवी के रूप में प्रतिष्ठित हैं। इनका स्वरूप अत्यंत भव्य और दिव्य है। ये स्वर्ण के समान चमकीली हैं ।
इनकी चार भुजाएं हैं। दाईं तरफ का ऊपर वाला हाथ अभयमुद्रा में है तथा नीचे वाला हाथ वर मुद्रा में। मां के बाईं तरफ के ऊपर वाले हाथ में तलवार है व नीचे वाले हाथ में कमल का फूल सुशोभित है। इनका वाहन भी सिंह है। इनकी उपासना और आराधना से भक्तों को बड़ी आसानी से अर्थ, धर्म, काम और मोक्ष चारों फलों की प्राप्ति होती है। उसके रोग,

Maa Katyayani is the sixth form of Durga Mata. Maharishi
Katyayana was a great scholar who had been doing rigorous penance in her ashram
to bring an end to Mahisaasura. One day Lord Brahma, Vishnu, and Maheshwar
appeared to him together. The three trinity together revealed their power to Maa
Durga. It happened at full night on the 14th day of Ashwin month.
Maharishi Katyayana was the first person who worshiped Mata
Durga, hence the name of Mata Durga is called Maa Katyayani and the festival of
Navratri is celebrated on the seventh, eighth and ninth days of the full bright
night of Ashwin month. The end of Mahisasura is celebrated on the tenth day.
Mata Katyayani is considered the goddess of purity. Mata
Katyayani has four hands, in her upper right hand she displays the posture which
gives freedom from fear, and in her lower right hand she holds the blessing
posture, in the upper left hand she holds the sword and in the lower left holds
the lotus flower. Worshiping them leads to wealth and liberation.
Mata Katyayani is worshiped on the sixth day in Navratri. By worshiping
them, the devotees get the four benefits of meaning, religion, work, and salvation very easily. Her diseases,
grief, sorrow, and fear perish. All sins of births are also destroyed.
The goddess is worshiped on the sixth day in Navratri.
In the Katya gotra, world-famous Maharishi Katyayan worshiped Bhagwati Mata.
Did hard penance. He wished he had a daughter. Maa Bhagwati was born to him as
a daughter.
Therefore she was called Goddess Katyayani. Their quality
is research work. That is why in their scientific age, Katyayani becomes of
paramount importance. It is only by her grace that all tasks are completed. She
appeared and worshiped at a place called Vaidyanath. Maa Katyayani is the
unfailing donor.
They were worshiped by the Gopis of Braj to get Lord Krishna
as a husband. Their puja was performed on the river banks of the Kalindi
Yamuna. That is why she is revered as the presiding deity of Brajmandal. Their
form is very grand and divine. They are
shiny like gold.
They have four arms. The right hand on the right side
is in Abhayamudra and the lower hand is in the blessing posture. There is a sword in the upper hand on
the left side of the Maa and the lotus flower is adorned in the lower hand. Her
vehicle is also a lion. By worshiping them, the devotees get the four fruits of
meaning, religion, work, and salvation very easily. Her diseases, grief, sorrow, and fear perish. All sins of births are also destroyed. That is why it is said
that worshiping the Goddess attains the supreme position.
