Bhai Dooj's Recognition
Bhaiya
Dooj is one of the most prominent and great festivals of India when Bahi prays
to God for her dear brothers to have a long-lived and prosperous life. Bahi
worships and sustains brothers on this day. Along with this, Bahi takes gifts
from the brothers. It is celebrated as Bhai Beej in Goa, Maharashtra and
Karnataka, Bhai Tika in Nepal, Bhau-Dij in Bengal, Bhai Fota and Ningol Chakba
in Manipur.
According
to the Gregorian calendar, it falls on the second day of the Shukla Paksha in
the month of Kartik (between October and November). All sisters get up very
early in the morning, worship and pray to God and Goddess for the better future
and health of their brothers. After the rituals of worship are conducted,
putting tika, curd, and rice on their foreheads completes the ritual of tika.
After this ceremony, she performs Aarti and gives sweets to eat. Finally gifts
are exchanged and blessings are taken by touching the feet of the elders.
Bhai
Dooj is considered a symbol of unwavering love and affection of siblings, also
known as Yama Dwitiya or Bhaiya Dooj. It is one of the major festivals of the Hindu
religion, which is celebrated on the Shukla Dwitiya of Kartik month.

Dooj is also celebrated outside the country. It is like the Raksha Bandhan festival
to increase the bond of love between brothers and sisters. The sisters on this
auspicious day pray to God for the well-being and welfare of their special
brothers, while the brothers present gifts according to their strength to show

Bhai Dooj Puja Vidhi
On the day of Bhai Dooj, the sisters should apply the vaccine on the forehead of
the brother and wish him a long life. On this day, one should worship Lord
Vishnu and Ganesh by taking bath first in the morning. After this, the brother
should apply tilak.
According
to Skandpuran, the method of worship on this day (Bhai Dooj Puja Vidhi) is
something like this. On this day, the brother should go to the sister's house
and have food. If the sister is not married then she should eat her handmade
food.
If you do not have your real sister, you should go to the house of uncle, brother, uncle, etc.'s daughter or father's sister. At the same time, after eating food, the sister should give jewelry, clothes, etc. as a gift. Bathing in Yamunaji has special importance on this day.
